Lead Our Construction Division. Build Projects. Build People. Build Something Bigger.
Restoration 1 of Birmingham is seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly organized Construction Manager to lead our growing reconstruction division.
This is far more than a project management position. As our Construction Manager, you'll oversee every aspect of our reconstruction projects—from writing accurate Xactimate estimates and securing approvals to managing production through final completion—while helping build the systems, processes, and foundation for a best-in-class construction department.
Reporting directly to our Director of Operations, you'll oversee all reconstruction projects while helping build a scalable, high-performing construction division. Initially, you'll personally manage every project, with the opportunity to build and lead a construction team as the company continues to grow.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates exceptionally well, solves problems proactively, and believes that outstanding customer service and strong profitability go hand in hand.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct on-site inspections of residential properties post-mitigation to assess scope of work
· Produce precise, well-structured estimates using Xactimate that reflect what is truly needed to do the job right
· Collaborate with the Construction Manager and project team to ensure estimates are aligned with field execution and labor requirements
· Communicate scope and expectations clearly with property owners and adjusters
· Push back on inaccurate assumptions and negotiate confidently when necessary—your job is to advocate for what the project requires
· Maximize revenue opportunities without inflating scope—every line item should be justified, documented, and aligned with quality standards
· Assist with estimate revisions, supplements, and change orders as needed
· Track approval timelines and ensure smooth handoffs from estimating to production
Required Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years of experience in construction scoping and estimating (residential or light commercial)
· Proficiency in Xactimate
· Strong understanding of residential construction materials, methods, and sequencing
· Experience working with insurance adjusters and a firm grasp of property and casualty insurance concepts
· Ability to read scopes, blueprints, and spec sheets with confidence
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proven ability to manage multiple open projects and deadlines simultaneously
· High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, margin, and efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
· Familiarity with Xcelerate, Encircle, and DocuSketch or similar systems preferred (not required)
· IICRC or other restoration-specific certifications
· Previous experience in the water/mold/fire restoration and/or construction industry
What We Offer
· Competitive salary commensurate with experience, with additional performance-based bonus opportunities
· Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
· Company Vehicle
· Paid Time Off (PTO)
· Supportive, team-oriented environment
· Autonomy to own your role while contributing to the company’s growth
· Opportunity to be part of a high-performing and mission-driven organization
