POSITION OVERVIEW
EMD LLC is seeking a qualified Electrician to join our growing team in support of U.S. Government operations. This position is based in Alexandria, Virginia, and requires the selected candidate to report to our Alexandria office. While the position is CONUS-based, it includes approximately 35% to 50% international travel in support of overseas Government facilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining commercial or government electrical systems, with the ability to work in secure and mission-critical environments.
Medical and Security Clearance Requirements
This position is contingent upon the successful completion of government-required medical screening, examinations, and testing. Due to the nature of the assignment, the U.S. Government requires comprehensive medical evaluations to determine an individual's fitness for overseas deployment.
The position is also contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
A contingent offer of employment will be extended pending successful completion of all required medical evaluations. Employment in this position is contingent upon the candidate's ability to obtain and maintain both a U.S. Department of State Class 1 Medical Clearance and a Top-Secret security clearance throughout the duration of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install, maintain, and repair security systems in compliance with NEC, Department of State regulations and contract requirements.
- Utilize expertise in conduit installation, including both electrical metallic tubing (EMT) and rigid pipe (RGS), to facilitate the wiring and integration of security system components.
- Demonstrate proficiency in conduit bending techniques to accurately measure, cut, and shape conduit according to project specifications and electrical drawings.
- Utilize power tools and equipment, including drills, saws, and conduit benders, to complete installation tasks safely and efficiently.
- Operate man lifts and other aerial equipment as needed to access installation locations at varying heights.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and electrical drawings to plan and execute installations accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism while working in US government facilities overseas.
- Ensure effective communication with team members, clients, and project managers to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Adhere to safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and the team. Use power tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete installation tasks.
Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical systems installation, with a focus on security systems installation preferred.
- Possession of a valid apprenticeship or journeyman license.
- Proficiency in electrical system installations, conduit installation techniques, and the use of power tools and equipment.
