Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Pile Driver Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will operate heavy-duty pile driving equipment to install foundations for large-scale infrastructure projects. Your expertise in crane operation, load handling procedures, and safety regulations will ensure the successful and safe completion of piling operations. Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Operate pile driving machinery, including hydraulic hammers and cranes, to install deep foundation piles with precision and efficiency
- Coordinate with the construction team to determine optimal positioning and alignment of piles according to project specifications
- Handle materials and loads using rigging, overhead cranes, boom trucks, forklifts, and other lifting equipment while adhering to load securing rigging methods
- Conduct routine inspections of heavy equipment, including hydraulics, safety equipment, and load handling tools, ensuring all are in proper working condition
- Follow construction site safety regulations and OSHA safety standards diligently during all operations
- Implement proper materials handling procedures, including loading, unloading, and securing materials for transport or storage
- Maintain detailed logs of daily operations, equipment usage, safety checks, and incident reports as required
Qualifications
- May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment such as pile drivers, cranes (overhead cranes), excavators, backhoes, forklifts, and boom trucks
- Proven experience operating load handling equipment safely within construction environments
- Knowledge of construction workplace safety regulations and OSHA standards for heavy machinery operation
- Ability to perform rigging and load securing procedures accurately using various rigging methods
- Familiarity with hydraulics systems and their maintenance for optimal machine performance
- Excellent understanding of materials handling techniques in shipping & receiving areas or warehouse settings
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred for transporting equipment or materials between sites
- Prior experience working on construction sites with a focus on foundation installation or piling operations
Requirements
- The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
- Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
- Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
- May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
- May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
- Must have experienced as a Steel Pile Driver
- May require U.S. Driver License
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
- Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
