Description
The Intermediate Interior Designer supports the interior design process by applying foundational knowledge and technical skills gained in their first few years of experience. With 3-6 years of experience and a degree from an accredited interior design or architecture program, this individual has demonstrated proficiency in production and documentation while beginning to grasp project management fundamentals. This position includes opportunities to manage aspects of projects and collaborate closely with senior project leaders and consultants.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Assist throughout the interior design process, contributing to firm and project goals with support from senior team members.
· Participate in managing client relationships and setting clear expectations, often in collaboration with senior project leaders.
· Collaborate on multiple projects, supporting design phases such as programming, space planning, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
· Prepare and review contract documents, including plans, schedules, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
· Contribute to the selection of materials, furniture, finishes, and lighting, balancing constructability and project goals.
· Enhance design concepts through creative solutions aligned with project objectives.
· Utilize design technology effectively, ensuring high-quality production and documentation.
· Develop a basic understanding of project scope, fees, and budgets.
· Participate in design reviews, charettes, and client presentations, demonstrating growing confidence in communication.
Requirements
Skills & Abilities:
· Proficient in design technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, and presentation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Enscape preferred).
· Solid foundation in programming, workplace planning solutions, and design processes.
· Growing understanding of building codes, ADA requirements, and sustainable design principles.
· Ability to apply creativity and problem-solving to enhance design concepts.
· Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Education & Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited school.
· 3-6 years of relevant experience.
· Professional licensure (NCIDQ or ARE) preferred.
