Description
Corvant About Us: At Corvant, we provide specialty HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical services to mission-critical commercial and industrial environments. Our teams support essential facilities across data centers, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, and education. We deliver end-to-end solutions across the facility lifecycle, including design, prefabrication, installation, controls integration, and ongoing service. As one of the fastest-growing platforms in our space, we are focused on operational excellence, technical expertise, and building a high-performing team.
The Senior Estimator leads the development of accurate, competitive estimates for Corvant’s HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical projects. This role turns drawings and specifications into clear scopes, sound pricing, and winning bids that protect project margins. As a senior member of the estimating team, this role owns complex bids from takeoff through final pricing, partners with Business Development and Operations, and mentors less experienced estimators.
Requirements
Estimating & Bid Development
• Lead the preparation of complete, accurate mechanical estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal scopes on commercial, industrial, and mission-critical projects
• Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents to define scope, identify risks, and flag inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontract pricing using Corvant estimating software and historical productivity data
• Solicit, level, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure complete, competitive coverage of every scope
• Develop project schedules and general conditions assumptions that support realistic labor and duration pricing
• Prepare final bid summaries and recommend pricing strategy, margin, and alternates to leadership
Preconstruction & Value Engineering
• Partner with Business Development and clients during preconstruction to support budgeting, design-assist, and design-build pursuits
• Identify value engineering opportunities, alternate systems, and substitutions that improve cost, schedule, or constructability
• Attend pre-bid meetings, plan reviews, and site walks to verify existing conditions and project requirements
• Track permits, local requirements, and other factors that may affect project cost or schedule
Project Turnover & Cost Feedback
• Deliver a complete estimate turnover package to Operations, including scope narrative, budget, labor hours, and key assumptions
• Support Project Managers with change order pricing and scope questions after award
• Capture actual cost and productivity data from completed projects to strengthen the historical cost database and improve future estimates
Team Leadership & Standards
• Mentor and train Estimators and Estimating Interns on takeoff methods, pricing practices, and software
• Review estimates prepared by other team members for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
• Help maintain estimating standards, templates, bid logs, and vendor and subcontractor lists
• Build strong relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and trade partners to keep pricing current and competitive
Success Profile
A successful Senior Estimator brings deep mechanical construction knowledge and a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to every bid. They read a set of drawings and quickly see the scope, the risks, and the opportunities. They are comfortable owning large, complex estimates under tight deadlines, communicate their pricing logic clearly, and hold themselves and their team to a high standard of accuracy. They see a strong handoff to Operations as part of the job, not an afterthought.
