Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Rough-In Electrician to join our new dedicated Greenfield Construction Team. In this role, you will install underground conduit and duct banks, install electrical service equipment, perform conductor pulls, and perform testing and energization. You will work closely with other construction trades to get conduit and stub-ups in the right place per the design and equipment installation manuals. This position is ideal for a certified electrician with strong underground and electrical service experience who is ready to take ownership. The position will require travel for extended periods of time.
Responsibilities:
- Install underground conduit and duct banks (PVC, PVC-coated, and rigid) with sweeps and spacers to the depths and routing shown in the plans.
- Set conduit stub-ups and place in forms before concrete pours in coordination with the concrete finisher.
- Install pull boxes, handholes, and vaults.
- Install grounding electrode systems, including ground rods, ground rings, and bonding.
- Set and install switchgear, panelboards, transformers, and service equipment, and coordinate utility-side requirements with the serving utility.
- Mandrel and proof conduits, install pull strings, and pull and terminate conductors.
- Mount and wire different size EV chargers, pedestals, and related equipment, including both AC and DC systems.
- Perform insulation resistance (megger), continuity, and torque testing, and document results.
- Prepare work for electrical and utility inspections and support charger commissioning.
- Maintain accurate redlines of installed conduit and equipment for as-built drawings.
- Lead, mentor, and train installers and apprentices on site.
- Ensure company provided tools and equipment are in good working order.
- Cross-train in and support other team tasks as needed.
- Complete any other assignments and special projects as requested by the construction lead and by management.
- Adhere to safety requirements and participate in safety meetings. Wear all required and appropriate PPE while on the jobsite.
Qualifications and General Requirements:
- 5+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience, including significant underground and service installation work.
- Strong knowledge of the NEC, particularly Articles 230 (services), 250 (grounding and bonding), and 300 (wiring methods), as well as local codes.
- Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams and electrical plans.
- Experience with 480V three-phase systems and electrical testing equipment.
- Must have OSHA 10 certification.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- Strong dedication to safety with a commitment to following safety protocols.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- State journeyman or general electrician certification in states where required (e.g., California).
- Experience installing and commissioning DC fast EV chargers.
- Medium-voltage experience a plus.
Travel & Schedule:
- Travel is required up to 75-100% of the time to greenfield project sites across GWP's operating states.
- Assignments may last several weeks at a time; overnight and extended stays are expected.
- Work may follow a rotational schedule with planned time at home between assignments.
- Company-paid lodging, travel, and daily per diem are provided while on assignment.
- Overtime and weekend work may be necessary to meet project deadlines; flexibility with work hours and extended workdays is required.
