We are currently accepting applications for a Senior Associate Structural Engineer in our Denveroffice. This is a hybrid role with 2 days in the office, and the remainder of the week on site visits or working from home.
Essential Functions
Leverage your passion for and knowledge to:
- Review and analyze contract documents including calculations, drawings, and specifications, for new-build construction projects
- Perform property condition assessments
- Understand the root cause of issues observed at existing building and parking garage construction and prepare repair documents, and appropriate details, needed to address conditions
- Collaborate with the client, internal team, consultants, and site contact, and is responsible for an overall understanding of their project
- Prepare formal reports
- Act as technical team member and small project lead
- Travel to client sites as needed both locally and regionally, approximately 30%
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering required
- Minimum 10 years' industry related experience at a structural engineering design or consulting company
- Registered as a Professional Engineer, preferably with an SE certification
- Technical level of understanding of building types, building codes, and seismic lateral force-resisting systems in order to perform services of the organization with limited supervision
- Understanding of hazardous building types/features and site seismic hazards • Experience with seismic evaluations according to ASCE 41 a plus
- Experience in design of structural repairs and overseeing retrofits. Experience in parking garage evaluations and overseeing repairs a plus
- Experience in seismic retrofit design a plus
- Good understanding of Construction processes and activities
- Good understanding of building materials and methods
- Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Proficient in AutoCAD; Bluebeam, Revit, with experience with PlanGrid desirable
Physical Requirements
Candidates should have the ability to:
- Operate a computer (keyboarding) and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier/scanner/printer
- Use visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens
- Move through construction and existing building sites over rough terrain
- See and respond to dangerous situations
- Respond quickly to sounds
- Ascend and descend ladders and stairs
- Move safely through confined spaces and narrow paths
- Work in outdoor weather conditions or unconditioned areas
- Lift up to 40 lbs
- Travel approximately 30% of the time both in and out of state
